- About UnSun®About UnSun® In 2006, my 10 month old son had a severe chemical sunscreen allergic reaction, which in turn prompted a search for fashionable sun protective clothing. With a limited selection of mostly polyester fabrics which were utilitarian and unflattering in design, the vision for UnSun® was clear: Linens, Cottons, Silks and breezy blended fabrics would make up the foundation of a beautiful new Sun Protection Brand. An incredible journey began. Selections of fabrics, testing, UPF certification and product development took three years. Classes in Patternmaking, Textile Design, Textile Science, Draping, and Fashion Design and Marketing helped to provide additional knowledge beyond previous garment construction and retail merchandising experience. Mentors began to appear and the feedback was priceless. The interest in the styles, feel of the fabrics and silhouettes were amazing. I have so many wonderful people to thank for helping pull this collection together to launch the UnSun® Brand. Our Signature UnSun® linen fabric offers breezy, cool looks in a timeless fabric that we took the liberty to improve. Our cotton seersucker fabrics come in must-have silhouettes for the family.
